Who we are

 

Wie ons is

  The South African Society of Music Teachers is the oldest professional music society in South Africa. Since its inception it has represented music educators at Universities, Colleges, Schools, Music centres, and in Private practice.   Die Suid Afrikaanse Vereniging vir Musiekonderwysers is die oudste professionele musiekvereniging in Suid Afrika. Sedert sy ontstaan, verteenwoordig die vereniging musiekopvoeders by Universiteite, Kolleges, Skole, Musieksentrums en in Privaatpraktyk.

Doelstellings van SAVMO
 
  • The unification of the music teaching profession.
  • Furtherance of the interests of the profession collectively and individually.
  • The maintaining of a high standard of professional competence and dignity.
 
  • Die vereniging van lede in die musiekonderwysberoep.
  • Die bevordering van die belange van die beroep as ‘n geheel sowel as van individuele lede.
  • Die handhawing van ‘n hoë standaard van professionele bevoegdheid en waardigheid.
 
The Mission of the SASMT
 
Missie van SAVMO
  The functions and aims of the Society are to work for the good of music in any way concerning the music teaching profession in Southern Africa.   Die funksies en doelstellings van die vereniging is om ten goede van musiek te werk op enige manier ten opsigte van die musiekonderwys-beroep in Suidelike Afrika.

  • To abide with the Constitutional values of non-racism, non-sexism, nondiscrimination and promotion of human rights.
  • To bring Music Education and our rich and varied culture to as many people as possible throughout all areas of Southern Africa.
 
  • Om te hou by die konstitusionele waardes van nie-rassigheid, nie-seksisme, nie-diskriminasie en bevordering van menseregte.
  • Om musiekonderwys en ons ryke verskeidenheid van kultuur aan so veel as moontlik mense in alle gebiede van Suidelike Afrika te bring.
